TO SOFTEN ADJECTIVES, USE "KIND OF" OR "A LITTLE"

 In this lesson, we learn how to soften adjectives using "kind of" and "a little". This helps us speak in a more polite or less direct way. These expressions are useful when we want to describe something or someone but not too strongly.

Examples:

  • He is kind of tired.

  • She is a little sad.

  • The movie was kind of boring.

We use "kind of" and "a little" before adjectives.


GRAMMAR: Using "kind of" and "a little"

Structure:

  • Subject + be + kind of / a little + adjective

Examples:

  • I am kind of hungry.

  • She is a little cold.

  • They are kind of busy.

Negative:

  • He isn’t kind of messy. ❌ (Incorrect)

  • Just say: He is not messy. ✅
